Anti-inflammatory: helps decrease inflammation in your body, inflammation being a normal and healthy body response to infection or anything else that may be causing inflammation
Sedative: helps to calm the nervous system and can be beneficial in reducing stress and anxiety; may be helpful for insomnia; includes some antispasmodics and nervines
Okay, now that we have those herbal actions out of the way, you can use these terms to better understand how lavender works in the body. As a nervine and sedative, lavender can help to relax the body and mind, helping to relieve anxiety and prepare the body for a deep and restful sleep.
