Temple Tuesday: Box Breathing

Hey Demples, welcome back to another Temple Tuesday! Today we will be talking about our very first meditation/grounding technique: box breathing.

Now, box breathing is rather simple. All you have to do is inhale for 4 seconds, hold it for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, hold it for 4 seconds, and repeat as many times as you need to re-center yourself.

Box breathing helps soothe your parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for bringing your body back to a state of calm. A few things that box breathing may help with include:

  • Coping with panic and stress
  • Sleeping in cases of insomnia
  • Focusing in busy or stressful situations
  • Keeping calm when preparing for a long or busy day
